Buccaneers vs. Seattle Seahawks
Tampa Bay 20-10 over Seattle
The night the Bucs took second stage in the Bay Area. While this pretty comfortable victory over Seattle was being played out on national TV, the Tampa Bay Rays were clinching Game 7 of their ALCS against the Boston Red Sox and were on their way to the World Series.
Indeed the loudest cheer of the night came when the Rays stopped a Boston threat in the 7th inning and the scoreboard posted the update for the Buccaneer faithful. “We were the minor league game tonight in the Tampa Bay area,” said QB Jeff Garcia, who completed 27 of 36 passes for 315 yards and a touchdown in his second start since coming off a four-game benching.
Garcia’s soaring 47-yard bomb down the left sideline to WR Antonio Bryant opened the scoring and once RB Earnest Graham had doubled the lead with 6:32 left in the first quarter, the result was never in doubt.
Half-time saw the official retirement ceremony for one of the Bucs’ best as FB Mike Alstott was honored in a tribute that included Buc radio commentator Gene Deckerhoff’s famous “Alstott up the gut” call.
