For an organization to avoid internal gridlock – much like the kind we’ve seen in Philadelphia and San Francisco recently – it’s important that the general manager and head coach remain on the same page.
Having the No. 1 overall pick only enhances the need for a consensus decision and, according to Lovie Smith, that’s exactly where the Buccaneers are at in the process.
“Yes, we are (on the same page),” Smith said during his press conference on Monday. “We’re in total agreement. It’s Jason and I… That’s definitely the case.”
In fact, Smith claims that given the significance of the first pick, they’ve made it a point to involve the entire organization and make sure everyone is on board.
“Going back to the first pick of the draft, you bring more people involved and make sure we can all come to an agreement,” Smith said.
So while the Winston or Mariota argument will press on from those outside the building up until Roger Goodell steps up to the podium, it appears everyone within the walls of One Buc is of the same mind, 10 days out.

Now that they are on the same page, I hope both are reading the same book. Go Bucs!
