Agree WiltheBrewer. How do you even qualify when you don’t play. Better selection would have been Will Gholston who has been playing stout against the run and got his first sack of the year on Sunday.

I don’t get this “love fest” for Gholdston I really don’t, he got a coverage sack vs Cassel he held the ball for 7 seconds, sigh, yes, Gholdston is ok vs the run so what, Melton is just as serviceable at that spot as Gholdston but I don’t hear his name. Are we so desperate for anything at DE that we praise mediocrity?

drdneast…..agreed…Gholston has out played McCoy for last few weeks and no mention of him. Don’t get this article either

Winston has been nothing shy of mediocre the past few weeks, he gets the hot spot? barely above 50% completion percentage, under throws his deep ball, comes off woblly when throws on the run, misses the easy throw at times. Koeeter echoed this today with PR cause I saw it on my facebook wall. Just so you won’t think I’m always negative, Winston has fire and moxy and leadership and when he steps into his throws can really fire the ball accurately, but I want to see more consistency out of the position

Do you like anyone on the team jongruden? I beg to differ about Winston. He would have had a great game against the Giants if it wasn’t for all the drops he had.
Yes, he had a mediocre game against the Cowboys, but he practically willed this team into the enzone.

Drdnest- It’s called being objective and not a “homer”, you have to see the good and bad or your not being honest. I own a Winston Jersey a long with David, Martin and Vjax, does this mean I should say they are awesome no faults at all the best in the league stuff cause I like them?, no, just as my own son plays high school football I tell him what he needs to work on so he can fix his problems and be better. To be blind and not see faults is what keeps people living in a dream land that doesn’t exist, whats that son you made a “C-” in Algebra well you tried hard and a “C-” in perfectly fine no need for tutoring. lol esp here in Tampa apparently

Jameis definitely doesn’t put up the numbers we would all love to see, but he manages the game amazingly. He leads our team which is what we need from a 1st pick rookie. He loves the players and coaches and is bringing a winning mentality to all of our players (except McCoy). Kidding about him, but the numbers will come. He will continue to have his ups and downs on the stat sheet but what he’s bringing to this franchise otherwise is exactly what we need!

A C- in Algebra in a public Hillsborough County school qualifies him for MIT doesn’t it.
I understand your point jongruden and I do admit to being a homer, but I have been tough on players performances as well.
Look at the posts about ASJ.
I try to keep things in perspective though.
Winston is a rookie so I don’t expect him to play like he’s been in the league three years.
I think Gholston has been playing better doesn’t mean I think he should go to the pro bowl.
I just think he’s been playing better. Like a B- better.

I would Grade Winston C- so far and Gholdson a D, he has few tackles a game with zero pressure on qb, that’s my grades anyway. Your are also right a C for any rookie qb is to be expected esp how young Winston is and who his supporting cast around are, not giving him much help with Dye, Brate and Humphries out there. Winston has tremendous upside but he still needs to work on things that’s for sure
