Mike Jenkins was a 5 star disappointment! Hall of famer. The worst player in the game.

    1. 1.1

Jenkins is Lovie’s bromance. I can not figure out why he is still on an NFL team

  2. 2

Coaching first; Jenkins second! Got to disagree about some of the players you picked Mark. McCoy was doubled and tripled teamed. Gholston was playing hard and 3 of those personal fouls weren’t that bad at all. Marpet had a couple rookie mistakes; way too hard on him. We are just jinked! The team lost focus when it was 24-0. One or two bad play calls or a couple Officials calls wasn’t who lost this game. Where were the leaders when it was 24-7; then 24-14; then 24-21; then 30-24? Who’s leading the TEAM?

    1. 2.1

Exactly Horse. A few great players, but no alpha dogs.

  3. 3

Jenkins was target constantly during the final drive and why not, the guy was playing 15 yards off.
Seriously, someone needs to tell Lovie that the majority of NFL teams needs less than 2:25 to score against our scout team like defense.
Oddly, we didn’t try one pass play when we got down to the 5 yard line after Martin’s big run.
Somehow, when Martin didn’t score, I knew we weren’t going to get a TD.

I think that looks about right Mark. I just can’t reconcile how easy it has been for team after team, time after time, year after year, to march down the field on us in the 4th quarter for a game winning score….I can’t recall the last time we stopped such drive….all I keep seeing is pitch and catch over the middle for 15 yard chunk after 15 yard chunk, ending in a slant for a TD..everyone knows this is coming….why don’t our coaches ever realize it….why can we never stop it….it seems to be the kryptonite of the Lovie (and SchiaNo, and Rah) defense….prevent D, only ever prevents us from winning….

  5. 5

I disagree with the Marpet assessment as well.
Jenkins needs to lead the list.
As far as the slant on McDougal, teams have been beating us on that play all year.
    Someones not teaching good technique.

The Buc defense owes the entire offensive a big, big apology for this lose. This secondary is not NFL caliber by a long shot, simple as that. Too, this many penalties is an embarrassment!

  7. 7

In general I would like to see this list and the Most Impressive list shift from one play causing people to make these lists to players consistently playing poorly or well throughout the game making the lists. Marpet and the special teams wouldn’t make this list with the adjustment and Jenkins and Banks would. Marpet had two penalties but he blocked well in the run game and pass protection all day. The special teams covered kickoffs and punts well all day and Barth was perfect. On the other hand Jenkins was out of position all day and Banks deflects one pass he should have intercepted and also gave up big plays all day.

You can send your resumé lol. No question after rewatching the game for a second time, then a third time on Tuesday, things change. This is initial reaction from one viewing, and when we are at the game we rarely have the luxury of replay. All subjective and I appreciate everyone’s opinion and glad you share it.

  8. 8

This was the greatest comeback in Washington’s 83 year history. The Bucs tied or set a record for the most penalties in its history. The Bucs WR corp was decimated, but their team was even more decimated. Cousins looked like a Pro Bowl QB; but every QB has looked like a Pro Bowler against the Bucs for the last 10 years. We need a big fast TE on offense…can’t count on Sefarian-Jenkins not getting hurt. But more importantly, we need three DBs & two DEs.

  9. 9

We might want to think about trading Glennon for a DE. We have no real legit starting DE’s! It’s killing us. If you don’t believe it then just look at our opponents Completion percentages and how many TD’s that have been scored on us? After this Season the GM should inform Lovie to find a new Defensive Coordinator. We;re not going to win more than 4-5 games. How many of us felt the air go out of the bag with this loss? I don’t like the where this team is heading. GM find us some sleepers on other teams practice squad. No more chicago players or retreads. Play the rookies!

    1. 9.1

Id have to disagree with you there horse as Glennon isn’t going anywhere yet. AS for who you trade for, there isn’t a spot on this team that is worse than our secondary. Glennon will maybe get traded right before the draft, as this QB class isn’t that strong.
This secondary is absolutely infuriating though. I’ve never seen anything like it.

      1. 9.1.1

I missed seeing the previous 3 games; so far the games I’ve seen, 2 DE’s would make 4 DB’s look a lot better.

  10. 10

I’m disappointed in a player that wasn’t even on the field. I hope ASJ watched TE Jordan Reed’s play in the greatest come from behind win in Redskins history.

Get on the field and stay on the field or choose a non-contact sport. Tired of the cameo interviews and frequent tub visits.

Your team (you included) could obviously use your help! Man up Dude!

  11. 11

Have you noticed that ever since Lovie decided to take over the defensive calls our defense has been inept. If we had just had the defense we had at the end of last season coached by our DC we would have won this game with no problems. Glaziers–tell Lovie to concentrate on discipline so this team will stop killing themselves with penalties, and let Frazier run the Defense if Lovie wants to keep his job, and CUT SPENCER! After our last fiasco by Spencer he had no business being counted on at the end of our game this week.

  12. 13

Something seriously wrong with this defense and especially the secondary. Get Banks and Conte back and it doesn’t matter. If it’s not Lovie and not injuries what is it then? Lovie takes over play calling and the defense has totally regressed. Worst in league in points allowed, but hey they must be good they are 5th in yards. Anyone who even cares about that stat or Throws it out as proof Lovie and this defense isn’t that bad is nuts. Most undisciplined team ever. Penalties are outrageous. Just a joke really. Oh and Banks isn’t great like I said in the other thread about Banks being a shut down corner. He’s the best of just a horrible group. Coaching change in Miami seems to be working, but I know it’s not Lovies fault. Lol.

  13. 14

Ironically I thought Koetter called an excellent game, aside from that one inexplicable call on 3rd and 1, when we had just made 2 1/2 yards on the previous play with our ‘jumbo’, goal line/Red Zone, power running package. That toss sweep was a terrible call, but should not be the defining memory of what was otherwise an excellent offensive game plan. Far more culpable in the loss, were the plethora of dumb penalties committed on defence, many caused by sheer ill-discipline. Players have to learn that the modern day rules regarding the quarterback are almost akin to ‘flag football’. Same with defensive holding/pass interference and any kind of late hit. I don’t actually have a problem with Marpet sticking up for his team mates, sends a message as far as I’m concerned. The defensive play and play calling was dreadful, especially on that last drive, with the dreaded, Dungy era, ‘prevent’ defence. If rushing 4 down linemen is exerting no discernible pass rush and the guy is sitting in the pocket shredding your defense, then blitz him, give him different looks, stunts, anything to disrupt his timing. Talk about ‘snatching defeat from the jaws of victory’, this loss is really hard to take.

  14. 15

McDougald had outside on that play. Lavonte David was the one who should have made the play.

  15. 16

I don’t know why my fellow Bucs Fans stick up for such players like Adrian Clayborne, Luke Stocker and now they stick up for William “do nothing ” Gholdston they say “he plays hard” which has been funny to read but now its just annoying so please Bucs Fans set the bar higher for your expectations for our players and stop saying such ridiculous things like “plays hard”, lol jeeze

    1. 16.1

Before you say Clayborne “isn’t with us” I know that I’m making examples of players Bucs Fans would stick up for because of the “plays hard” label of players

  16. 17

Somebody’s got to play devil’s advocate here, so here goes. Gholston is an excellent run defender who stuffed somebody yet again in the backfield in the first quarter, then somehow lost his cool for the other three. Maybe he should be on the list for that, but not for the way he played.

Chris Conte had a chance to close out the game in dramatic fashion with a pick, but it slipped right through his hands. He would be one of my nominees.

Jameis, hero that he was today, could have audibled on that 3rd down goal line rush by Sims. It seems obvious to me that there were more defenders than blockers on that side of the field. QB’s responsibility to do something about that other than stick to the original call.

I don’t understand why they didn’t use Sims as a receiver instead of slowpokes Stocker, Myers, and Brate after Jackson and Murphy went down. He’s lined up there before and caught a TD against New Orleans as a WR. He has the height, build, speed and hands to play WR in a pinch. Poor decision to leave him on the sidelines instead and then use him as a short yardage back in the clutch. Rainey should have spelled Martin when he was tired, not Sims. So Sims was a disappointment for both things that he couldn’t get done and things that he should have been asked to do but wasn’t.

David and Alexander continue to be victimized over the middle, where Washington gained many easy yards in their final drive. They had a few good tackles today, but their coverage is as bad as the DBs’. Perhaps Lansanah should swap roles with Alexander. He made many plays in pass defense last season. Now he’s splitting time with Carter in a position that doesn’t play much on passing downs.

The Bucs need a Raheem Morris type to do what he does up in Atlanta: “Passing Game Defensive Coordinator.” The back 7 aren’t improving and need a mastermind to come in and show them how to make it work. Nickerson and Byrd don’t seem to have that in their list of skills. Byrd and Nickerson are much higher on my list of disappointing Bucs than the other coaches. Their units aren’t improving while the others clearly are.

  17. 18

Easy to be “Monday Morning Quarterbacks” and find fault after the fact; but to be 3rd and a foot and not simply call a QB sneak followed by another on 4th down to kill more time and force the Redskins to go 99+ yards if both attempts are unsuccessful seems less than thought out. But Lovie thinks (?) go up by 6 with a FG and force the Redskins to score a TD. Buuuuuuut, only have to go 80 yards with a little more time against a defense that hadn’t slowed them down the past 30 minutes. I try not to be too critical of the coaching since they know far more than I, but that was stupid. Throw in players being so undisciplined puts this loss at the feet of Mr Smith, who went to Washington (pun) and in my view, set the psyche of the team back to the familiar defeatist state.

  18. 19

I would like to also nominate Conte. He had the game saving INT go right through his hands.

Other than that, it is all on the defense. That means that Frazer didn’t do his job, which means that Lovie isn’t doing his job.

We need a coach who doesn’t live in the past with the Tampa 2. Just because it is named for the team that developed it, doesn’t mean we have to keep using it over and over and over again to disappointing results.

Lovie’s ego is going to sink this team for a second straight season.

    1. 19.1

      Uncle Stan

Supposedly Lovie brought so many of these ex-Bears and other defense FA was because they were experienced Tampa 2 personnel.

Big joke!!! As we not playing Tampa2 as much as man.

It would appear the players are confused as to which system on what play.

Remember “Throw McKay in the bay!!”?

How about a new one “Shove Lovie!!!”

This whole defense issues are all on Lovie 100%

  19. 20

If you think getting new D ends, and corners are going to make a difference, they won’t. Not as long as Lovie is here running his passive scheme. How many corners, and D ends has Lovie tried since he’s been here with the same results? He’s gotten rid of a first round safety, a free agent safety, he’s on his second free agent D end, and has tried an assortment of walk ons, same result. How well could Revis cover if he’s playing six yards off the receiver? I don’t know if the Tampa 2 defense is dead, but I do know the defense Lovie runs is. The players have changed since Lovies been here, results are the same.

  20. 21

I don’t blame Koetter for the call on 3rd and 1, I blame Lovie. There’s absolutely no way you don’t make that 4 down territory and go for the win. The FG put us up 6 points not 7, the defense had looked AWFUL the entire second half. The best thing we had going was Doug Martin, but as usual our vanilla HC went the conservative route and that cost us the game. Not sure how we can expect players to play with a sense of urgency when we aren’t coach with any. It’s a shame that Koetter has shown more progress with a rookie QB, rookies on the o-line, no ASJ, limited Mike Evans for most of the year, and no Dotson than Lovie has with his healthy veteran laden unit all year. I’m sick of Lovie’s reasoning behind these terrible losses, it’s time we cut bait with him and that horrendous scheme and bring in someone capable of at least stopping 5 yd slants. Koetter should be HC and I believe if we just allow Lovie to finish the year out that will be confirmed. The offense is trending up while the defense is quiet and meek just like Lovie likes them.

  21. 22

Surfer dudes I agree about the def nose never pressing. Everyone knows they can’t stop a slant. I think everyone in the stadium knew what was coming in th end there except Lovie. Also I didn’t like the call on 4th and a foot to not run or sneak it, but overall Koetter has been a genius. You can’t have every call work every time.

Coaching staff #1 disappointment. Mike Jenkins #2.

    1. 24.1
  24. 25

We finally got Jennings out and now Jenkins took over as the most disappointing player on the field. Our secondary is a mess other than Conte who despite the missed int has been playing solid through the season.

The refs were pretty disappointing serving up all that home cooking in the 2nd half. While many penalties were legit, off the top of my head I recall the “PI” on Evans in the endzone and the “hold” on Alexander on 3rd down as the 2 most prominent BS calls. Was there contact, sure but let them play the damn game! I didn’t see any calls when Evans took contact trying to get the ball.

Koetter was very impressive the 1st half then in the 2nd we played too conservative imo. We can’t be afraid to move the ball down the field, especially when Jameis is on fire like he was yesterday.

Hope to see these problems fixed but my expectations have been brought down much lower after the past 6 weeks. Hoping for some kind of turn around but when the entire NFC South wins 2 weeks in a row while we lose, we may be better off looking at an early draft pick. DB please!
