Let’s hope young Jameis doesn’t challenge Rhodes too much next season when we play the Vikings. Could turn out ugly, cause Rhodes is elite.
RootsCrew commented on the post, Former Bucs Safety John Lynch Snubbed Once Again for HOF 3 weeks ago
Crap. I didn’t even think about Reed & Troy being eligible. There are only 7 safeties in the HOF, so Lynch needs to get in next year, cause you’re right, those two deserve it more than Lynch. Barber should be in before Lynch based on numbers and career impact. I really can’t believe T.O. is still not in and Davis made it in. Ridiculous.
RootsCrew commented on the post, Former Bucs Safety John Lynch Snubbed Once Again for HOF 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Disappointing to say the least. Especially when a guy like Davis goes in over Lynch. Davis is not a HOF. Next years eligible class is brutal. Ray Lewis, Moss, Urlacher, T.O. Seymour, Barber, and Steve Hutchinson. Really hope he gets in next year.

Amen, Scubog. Talented WR draft this year. We can find WR value in 2nd and 3rd round. We won’t find the same value at TE if we draft one later.
Yep. You’re right about Gronk, Olsen, & Graham. And they played football when Pro Style offenses still were the norm. The TE started to disappear in college with more teams scrapping Pro Style offenses, for the easier “level the playing field” RPO/Spread. TE is not featured greatly in those type of offenses. Lane Kiffin never used Howard’s skill…[Read more]
So I’ll ask again, how many productive 7th round draft picks can you find on rosters? It’s the 7th round for a reason. It’s basically the same as getting lucky with an UDFA. Practice squad type players. And to your point about covering kicks, as the article states, plays ST. He would improve our run blocking and ultimately our run game. You know,…[Read more]

I’ve seen a lot of people confused about taking O.J. Howard in the 1st round. His production at Bama is not indicative of his skill set. He really can do it all on the field. He should have come out in last years draft, but Saban is the devil and somehow convinced him to come back for another season. Dirk likes to use two TE sets to create…[Read more]
Top of your head, how many productive DE, OL, CB, WR, S, or DT make a significant contribution or even make an NFL team? Freddie is a great FB that would instantly help our running game. As Scott states, he’s also versatile. Bucs could do a lot worse with their 7th round pick.

Gholston – YES
Shep – YES
Quizz – YES
McDougald – YES
Robinson – YES
Conte – MAYBE
Hawley – MAYBE
Spence – MAYBE
Smith – MAYBE
Jackson – NO
Cherilus – NO
E. Smith – NO
Also would like to see them start negotiations with ME13. Set the bar and not be forced to match by what the Giants do with Odell.
RootsCrew commented on the post, Bucs’ Sweezy Cleared To Play, Marpet May Move To Center If Hawley Not Re-signed 1 month ago
Well, good. We paid him too much money to not suit up for us. He’s a run blocking beast at RG. While I’d still like to upgrade the OL in the next year or two, he’s a part of that upgrade. The OL has depth and versatility. I’d like to bring back Hawley as a backup. Cut E. Smith and Cherilus loose. With a more solid anchor at C, the OL improves,…[Read more]
RootsCrew commented on the post, Bucs DC Mike Smith Comes In Second For Jags HC Job 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Dodged the first “Hire Smitty” bullet. I’d really love for Smitty to come back next season. Like with any young team, continuance is so important from year to year. The players just started to gel and play up to the aggressive nature the defense calls for. Having the same DC would set us up to hit the ground running next season.

Absolutely not! He’s shown no real remorse. I don’t want him anywhere near the Bucs. Let some other team sell their soul. Breaking a woman’s face is not just a “He was young. He made a mistake” type of offense. That is a deep rooted problem. Did any of y’all break a girls face at 18? Stop excusing his actions because she (wrongly) hit his chest…[Read more]

We all better pray that Berto figured it out over the last half of the season, and somehow finds his range again this offseason. I know a lot of fans want him gone, but just think about what that would mean. Not only a wasted 2nd round pick, but also what equates to 2 wasted picks since we used an extra 4th to move up. Berto has to be better, but…[Read more]

I had to keep reminding pessimistic fans this season that our true team was on display in week 1. It just all fell apart in Arizona. Fully healthy, the offense is lethal. Adding a true WR2, another TE & some semblance of a reliable running game, will have us in the playoffs next year.
As far as Center goes, I like Hawley, but we do need an…[Read more]
I don’t know how any Bucs fan could look at our team and not feel optimistic. I think we’re all so tired of losing that it gets easy to focus on the negative and miss all the positives the team accomplished this year. Changing a losing culture and years of bad drafting/FA pickups doesn’t happen over night. I think we’re two years (and great…[Read more]
RootsCrew commented on the post, Shelton: Winston Shows Why He’s The Bucs’ Best QB – Ever 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Well, enjoy living in denial land, cause Jameis isn’t going anywhere. The rest of us will keep living in the real world where we acknowledge our QB’s faults, but also acknowledge his strengths. We also can objectively look at why his INT total was high this season. We look at the factors that contributed to his play and turnovers. But, you just…[Read more]
RootsCrew commented on the post, 2-Point Conversion: Bucs QB Winston Needs Bigger Targets In 2017 1 month, 3 weeks ago
Statement 1: I don’t think anyone would complain about bigger WR’s on the team, but we really need a WR with speed+route running + separation ability. As CG said, Corey Davis possess all 3 of those qualities. Ross is a burner, but you saw him get a little pushed around by NFL caliber CB’s. As far as the high throws, I do believe those will always…[Read more]

Good. I thought he struggled a lot with in game adjustments and overly conservative play calling. Balancing the two jobs has to be very difficult and Dirk even acknowledged it throughout the season. Rather him be great at just being a head coach, than him be just good as a OC/HC. He still needs to be heavily involved with Jameis and the offense,…[Read more]

Naples – What’s best for the Bucs is ALWAYS what I think about first. If a player that is best for the Bucs just happens to be a Nole, all the more better. I really just want the best players on the roster. Regardless of school affiliation.
You make great points about the running backs drafted in the last 6 years. But so did Scott when he…[Read more]
100% agree on bringing back Gholston and Spence. They’ve both produced and add necessary pieces to our DL. Plus, they both WANT to come back. We need players who love Tampa and want to play for the Bucs. That matters when things get tough. I’ll take mercenaries, KeShawn for example, but I want more guys who play here because they love it.
