Bucs star defensive tackle was honored to be named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl on Tuesday night, but despite being pleased by the recognition from his peers and the fans, there is one thing missed and that is playing in the postseason. Tuesday evening McCoy talked about the coaching staff and front office but said ultimately the change will have to come from within.
“Coach Smith has a great vision and a great plan, Mr. Licht is a good GM and has a great vision as well,” McCoy said. “And those guys are going to get together and get this thing turned around. But what really is going to have to happen, is we are going to have to decide in that locker room and finally change the culture [of losing]. We can’t allow this to keep happening. Five years straight for me that I have missed the postseason and quite frankly I am tired of dealing with it. So we are going to have to pick it up as a unit and a team and get this thing moving.
“This stuff is great (postseason accolades) and I extremely honored and I am going to try and do it over and over every year – continue to hear my name. But you guys know me. I am all about my team. I would give up the Pro Bowl any day to be in the playoffs to be able to compete for a championship.”

Perhaps Gerald and Lavonte should do like Sapp and Brooks did in 1996 with their Popeye declaration, “It’s all I can stand cause I can’t stand no more.” Too many FA’s who “got paid” and frankly seem to have lost the fire and desire. Too many never-beens who cower too easily. Want to change the attitude? Get a few players with some “‘tude”. Too much Mellow Yellow and not enough hard cider from Angry Orchard. Kool Aid anyone?
