Its apparent in today’s media that conjecture and half truths are fully acceptable ways of reporting a story to suit the viewpoint or needed slant, depending on the article being written.
I seriously wonder if the media would treat Winston differently if he was a white kid.I’m sure you would hear more about his intelligence and him almost going to Stanford and that the crab leg incident was a prank or miscommunication between him and the store employee who hooked people up…
Its evident anywhere you look in today’s society that racism and bigotry are alive and well~ consider how many people have said he(JW) will be the next Jamarcus Russell~why not the next Ryan Leaf? There have been 2-4 white QB busts for every black QB bust ~and I still believe Leaf is the worst of them all…

Here we go with the unfair bias reporting of a minority athlete (race card), excuses, excuses, excuses. Name another collegiate athlete white or black that had as much off field troubles as Winston in one year? 1. shoplifting 2. cursing obsceneties at student body then lied to caoch about incident later 3. stealing soda in Burger King 4. bb gun fight around campus shooting out windows 5. accused of rape A lot of misconduct for a white, black or purple player if you ask me. Lets not make the excuses for bad behavior it was HIS actions alone

Today’s media? I worked in television up until 2005. It really hasn’t changed much, in my opinion.

As far as comparisons, Leaf was a drug addict. Winston doesn’t compare well to Leaf, regardless of skin color. Personally, I’m not big on comparisons, good or bad. Each player is unique to themselves and should ultimately be judged upon their own merits, but not until they’ve been given a chance to succeed or fail.

Cus everything is about Race. WOW. If Winston hadn’t done all the off field incidents there wouldn’t be one person questioning his status as a #1 selection. Fact is he has shown repeated immaturity for 3 years.

Jimbo your as classless as the QB you employed. At least Coach K had the balls to call a spade a spade when confronted with the same situation. Answer this, Why would a victim make up a story and submit herself to the ridicule she has endured for 2 years? Why? She has never seemed money (ala-Greg Hardy). She has seeked justice, not fame or fortune.

Well Bucko, since you believe Jameis is guilty, and no woman has ever lied about being raped, go choose another team to root for. Jameis Winston will be the Bucs QB hopefully at least the next 10 years. Nice knowing ya bye, bye.

And your ok with women being raped and getting away with based on the assailants social status. What does that say about you as a human being.

  4. 4

He was not charged nor convicted of rape. My concern with Winston as of now is has he corrected his throwing technique. I believe he has. Baseball wasn’t good for to him. Just my opinion.

Some people just don’t get it (Bucko), in America you are innocent until proven guilty! I hope you never served on jury duty as the person on trial was guilty before he entered the courtroom.

I’m O.K. with Winston because I as in me personally, don’t believe the cleat chasers story. You believe her word no matter what the evidence. If you’re a man or woman of conviction Bucko, you’ll not be a fan of the Bucs any longer, because Jameis will be our QB going forward, and I’m glad to have him.

It’s no wonder they burned all those innocent people accused of being witches in Salem.

I’d think that Jameis Winston should talk to the bucs off the record and really ask Lovie Smith. Coach are you planing to draft myself the first pick! And give this young man a chance to relax and not worried where he will go. I think that Qb Jameis winston would be a great choice.Go Bucs

    1. 8.1

He’s already done that. That’s why he’s not going to the draft and stay at home with Mommy and Daddy and sulk while Mariota goes to the Bucs at #1.

After watching Winston in his first year, I thought he was the most dynamic QB and leader to hit the scene in recent memory. After last year, I thought he was immature after his early success. He is a 20 year old kid. That said, he has not been charged with a crime and he has been exonerated by anyone who has looked into the allegations in earnest.

I’m Ok with choosing either of the two top QBs. As far as off-field actions, I could care less. The only thing I desire out of athletes is winning. If I need a moral compass, I will look for a priest. If I want choirboys, I’ll go to a church.

    What Character Jimbo?

  13. 12

Winston is a victim of his own dumb choices. Does the media not tell the whole story sometimes, or not have all of the facts and slant the impact? Sure. Welcome to the NFL, millionaire. I bet that Mariota is feeling pretty good about how much harassment he has received comparatively, but then he made different choices didn’t he?
