The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Wednesday that the team has promoted wide receiver Donteea Dye from the practice squad to the active roster.
The Buccaneers announced on Monday that Vincent Jackson was heading to injured reserve after it was discovered the team’s longest tenured receiver had suffered an ACL injury.
Dye (6-0, 195) originally entered the league as a college free agent with Tampa Bay in 2015, playing in 10 games with five starts, catching 11 passes for 132 yards and one touchdown. The Cincinnati, Ohio native also spent this past offseason and preseason with the Buccaneers, before being waived (injured) prior to the start of the regular season. Dye, who played collegiately at Heidelberg, was signed to Tampa Bay’s practice squad on Monday. He wears No. 17 for the Buccaneers.
The team also announced that running back Russell Hansbrough (5-9, 195) has been signed to the practice squad. Hansbrough made his NFL debut with Tampa Bay in Week 5 at Carolina and has spent time on the Buccaneers’ practice squad this season. He will wear No. 44 for Tampa Bay.
